We recently caught up with Emilia Swiecicka, Partnerships and Marketing Manager at Vaimo for the latest news and expertise at the agency. 1. Hi Emilia, great to have you with us! Tell us about Vaimo?

Vaimo set up shop over 11 years ago in Sweden, focusing on the then newly launched Magento platform. Since then Vaimo has grown into a 500 person business across 16 countries and expanded the service offering to become a full service digital commerce partner for our clients.

Little known fun fact, Vaimo means heart in Sami and refers to the heart of commerce, but is often confused with the Finnish word for wife.

2. What sets you apart from other growth agencies? Any special areas of expertise?

A strong search solution is key to most e-commerce stores as a central part of the shopper journey. 4. With the current situation with COVID-19, how do you think this will impact online retailers?

Some sectors have seen a tremendous amount of growth, especially in the home improvement, necessities, health and hobby focused retail sectors. All while shifting operations to work from home and adhere to new regulations for safety. Operationally this is a challenge of course and fulfilment will see particular challenges. I believe coming out of Covid-19 will include a shift towards digital for the businesses behind in the area and validate investment for many already embracing digital.

5. If your agency was an animal, what animal would it be and why?

A reindeer of course! With proud Sami heritage, reindeer herding is not unfamiliar with Vaimo’s founders and their herd mentality is not unlike our core value teamwork.

6. What would you say to online retailers that have not used an agency like yours before?

Apart from handling the tech, design input and all the services you expect, working with an agency will help with timings. What do you launch first? What do you prioritise in the first week of a new site? What data is most important?

7.  Moving onto trends within e-commerce - AI and Machine Learning are buzz words we hear alot. How do you think this is changing the way that customers shop?

All the industries not typically associated with e-commerce will have to find a way to navigate the digital world post Covid-19. I think we’re going to see a lot of businesses exploring digital commerce channels. Launching fast and changing along the way isn’t going to go away, so a scalable solution is going to be important.

We’ve taken our experience from over 450 digital commerce projects and created an MVP approach to launch fast and create that extra channel. It will give merchants a solid foundation for adding complexity along the way.

8. What’s your one recommendation to retailers who want to maintain a strong online presence?

Always listen to customer data and test new things but don’t innovate for the sake of it. Data will always be your friend so use it to guide decisions and investment.
